Retail stores have been selling love-themed cards and candy since January 2 but not conversation hearts!? Love is in the air! More often than not, these programs have fallen short of my expectations for mind-blowing conversations. After all, people of all ages feel a certain amount of anxiety around this holiday, and often my attempts for a big event and meaningful conversation triggered the insecurities of the young people. You want kids to come relaxed and ready to go with the flow. If your group is shy, let them write anonymous questions on slips of paper. You can learn a lot from young people by asking thoughtful questions and allowing sufficient time for them to respond some people swear by the seven-second rule. It might feel awkward at first, but young people will learn to trust you and will offer insightful answers to your difficult questions. In preparation for a discussion with our high school youth group on dating, I wrote this article from the outline I made. What does the Bible say about dating? Specifically, nothing. If you spend a few minutes eavesdropping on a conversation between a group of teens you will very quickly see that the topic of dating occupies much of their thoughts and conversations. To have a successful discussion it is important to get off on the right foot. While some teens may be involved in very serious relationships, others may not have had a first date yet, may not be allowed to date, or have no interest in dating.
For this reason, start off with non-threatening questions. Dont be over anxious to jump in with all of the answers. Look for volunteers to answer rather than requiring everyone to share. Some leaders may prefer not to use worksheets but a handout may assist in facilitating discussion.

If you are a student reading this post, you probably have been faced with the frustration of the rules that a youth pastor or leader put on you for dating. That is a parent decision. It is not up to you to tell students that they cannot date someone of the opposite sex.
So, the answer to this blog post is fairly simple, you cannot control it, but I want to take this discussion to a different level, how do we approach dating in our youth group? I tend to take a more conservative approach to this than most. I look at teen dating as a waste of time, personally.
Their relationship with Jesus must be mastered now and for all of life, and of course their relationship with their spouse will be later. This study is all about how a relationship with Jesus through the gospel will get them ready for a godly marriage down the road. Their focus should not be a dating, but on marriage. Other parents find it embarrassing to talk about dating and sexuality, in their parish’s youth group, or to join Catholic student groups when.
This will help keep years in dating and prevent age. We were great years for a age before we started dating. We could spend years together just talking and laughing with our friends or by ourselves. We got to know each other and learn for each other relationships. We respected each other. I give this advice to you from my own years.
